About Us
Bookham Bees WI was established in April 2018. At each monthly meeting there is a buzz in the air and a beehive of activity.
Our programme varies from month to month, including riveting speakers and fun activities testing a wide variety of skills! Most of all, the top priority is that everyone feels welcome and enjoys a fun and friendly evening.
In addition, we organise outings and social events and welcome the opportunity of supporting our local community.
Visitors are always very welcome to come to our meetings for a small fee (currently £5). We do ask, however, that after 3 visits that membership is purchased. This then allows you to participate in all our activities.
The Women's Institute (WI) was formed in 1915 to revitalise rural communities and encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Since then the organisation's aims have broadened and the WI is now the largest voluntary women's organisation in the UK. The WI celebrated its centenary in 2015 and currently has over 210,000 members in around 6,600 WIs
The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
